Abstract

This editorial introduces the inaugural issue of the Gender Research and Policy Journal, highlighting locally grounded research that advances gender equality and the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 5. The five contributions examine women’s representation in science, gendered perspectives on marital relationships, awareness and utilization of solo parent welfare programs, women’s experiences during flood evacuations, and inclusive dress codes in higher education. Collectively, these studies reveal persistent gender disparities and institutional challenges while proposing evidence-informed interventions and policy reforms. The issue underscores the importance of inclusive governance, gender-responsive services, and interdisciplinary scholarship in promoting equity, dignity, and social justice.
